EXCELLENT Based on 154 reviews Melissa TJuly 14, 2025Verified Unforgettable Adventure Day with Best Tours CR! We traveled from Playa Grande with a group of 12 adults for an adventure-packed day at Hacienda Guachipelín — and it exceeded every expectation! From start to finish, everything was seamless. Yeudy and his team made coordinating a large group effortless with clear communication and genuine hospitality. We horseback rode through gorgeous scenery to the Las Chorreras Waterfall (absolutely stunning!), soared through the zip lines and hanging bridges, had a blast tubing down the river, and finished the day relaxing in the hot springs. The perfect mix of adrenaline and pura vida relaxation. The private service made it feel personal and unrushed, and every guide we met along the way was kind, knowledgeable, and fun.If you’re visiting Guanacaste — with family, friends, or even a big group like ours — Best Tours CR should be at the top of your list. Thank you, Yeudy, for helping make our trip unforgettable! We’ll definitely be back.— The Chillbillies 🇨🇷 July 2025 Randall lJuly 1, 2025Verified Jehudy an excellent tour guide. Jehudy is an excellent guide. I think he's a super interesting person with a lot of knowledge and experience in what he does. 100% recommended. Mary CNovember 3, 2024Verified Perfection! What an amazing experience we had! My sister and I booked two excursions with Jodi and can't say enough about his insight, professionalism, knowledge and kindness. We visited Vandara and the whole day was spectacular from ziplining, horseback riding and wonderful soaking time in the hot springs. The staff at Vandara were accommodating, encouraging and a whole lot of fun! Our second trip was a UTV tour where we went to 5 different beaches and lookouts. It was a perfect day and our guides were so sweet! I would recommend booking with Best Tours CR for all of your excursions in Costa Rica! Cosmopolitan783385September 2, 2024Verified Very highly recommended - the best of the best! Yeudy was absolutely the best tour guide and host we had the pleasure of spending time with during our two weeks in Costa Rica. Everything was provided and planned with special care and consideration, and it was obvious from the beginning he takes great pride in sharing the best of Costa Rica, and offering as much of his time and attention as is called for in each situation. And, unlike some other operators, Yeudy is all about that personal attention - He has chosen to keep his business small in order to fully preserve the quality and personal touch of your experience. Very highly recommended! Sarina GJune 25, 2024Verified Pura Vida! Yeudy was recommended to me from a friend who took tours with him a previous summer. I traveled to Costa Rica with a group of 40 friends and family this June and we enjoyed multiple excursions with Best Tours Costa Rica. Yeudy was very responsive and accommodating to our large group. He answered our many questions so promptly via Whats App. Yeudy is very knowledgeable and personable. We were pleasantly surprised that Yeudy greeted some of us at the airport that booked roundtrip transfers to our hotel, and he was there when we took the shuttle back to the airport. He provided drinks, snacks and even a personalized surprise for one of our kids celebrating a birthday. If you’re seeking adventure, wildlife encounters, and expert guidance, I highly recommend Best Tours Costa Rica. Thank you, Yeudy for a memorable vacation! Pura Vida! Michael DJune 23, 2024Verified Best Vacation Ever! Yeudi…we’ll be back😊 We travelled with a large group of friends and family and booked our two all day excursions with Yeudi. He was so passionate, patient, knowledgeable and gracious accommodating 40 of us in. Adults, young teens, middle school kids. Plenty of snacks for everyone, juice and water for the kids, and lots of beer for the adults. Lunch was booked for our large group at local restaurants so we all experienced some of the best local, home cooking (one of the restaurant had an added attraction of having a butterfly 🦋 sanctuary). Our first excursion: tubing thru a river in the jungle (what an unexpected fun and exciting adventure…we were expecting a lazy river experience since we had younger kids but it turned to level 3-4 white water rafting adventure…kids and adults all loved it and everyone was safe and survived); Ziplining was next thru the jungle, 7 or 8 sections thru jungle, mountain canopy…so much fun for adults and kids; then ended the first day with trek thru the jungle to bathe our aching bodies in hot springs. Second excursion was a drive to the rain forest to see sloths and other wildlife (highly recommend) followed by a trip and hike to swim under waterfall. Yeudi was so thoughtful and remembered one of our teen’s bday and surprised our group with a cake at the waterfall! Yeudi even pulled the big tour bus over when all the kids saw McDonald’s 🤣😋😋 Jordan LApril 29, 2024Verified Nicaragua to Costa Rica Using this company was absolutely perfect! We did the ATV Tour as well as the hanging bridges and our group of 6 absolutely loved it. We came across the Nicaragua border and they helped to ensure we were able to get across safely and timely as well as return back to where we were staying in Nicaragua. Highly suggest if you are staying in San Juan del sur to use this company for excursions in Costa Rica! Randy MJanuary 23, 2024Verified Costa Rica tourist Trip with the best Tourist Co in CR Yeudy (Jodi as he likes to be called for us English speaking folks), was absolutely phenomenal! Very engaging, and we feel like we got a costa Rican education on the way to zip lining and the hot springs. It was my wife and I's 30 th wedding anniversary and Yeudy made it a very special day. Surprisingly to us, he made arrangements with the bar tender near the hot springs to set up a small area overlooking the hot springs, with a bottle of champagne and balloons congratulating us on our 30 th! What a guy! I think he was equally excited about the surprise as we were! Going to add some photos so you can see what a great experience this was. Highly recommend and will be sending tourists his way. Thanks again Yeudy for making this a special day. Oh, almost forgot, he even stopped on the way back to Dreams BC he spotted a family of Holler monkeys playing in the trees---got a lot of nice pics from that random surprise. ZammamaJanuary 4, 2024Verified Great Morning ATV with Tony and Roy We had a great morning exploring with Tony and Roy. They were both so informative and friendly. We saw a lot of wildlife and learned a lot about the history of the area. At all times, we felt safe. I would definitely recommend this tour!! My whole family (family of 6) would agree!! Sloths are renowned for their slow and deliberate movements, captivating the hearts of nature enthusiasts around the globe. When venturing on the Sloth Tour, you have the chance to encounter two distinct types of sloths: the Two-Toed Sloth and the Three-Toed Sloth. Let’s explore each type in more detail.
The Two-Toed Sloth, scientifically known as Choloepus, is one of the two sloth species you may spot on the Sloth Tour. Here are some intriguing facts about this remarkable creature:
Unlike its three-toed cousin, the Two-Toed Sloth has two long claws on its arms and three on its legs. These sharp claws help them maneuver through the dense foliage of the rainforest, providing them with great hooking power.
Two-Toed Sloths primarily inhabit the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. They spend most of their lives high up in the tree canopies, making them challenging to spot for the untrained eye.
Their diet mainly consists of leaves, fruits, and occasionally, tender buds. These slow-moving creatures have a specialized digestive system to efficiently process their fibrous plant-based meals.
Two-Toed Sloths are nocturnal animals, meaning they are most active during the night. Their slow metabolism and sedentary lifestyle allow them to conserve energy and thrive in their arboreal habitats.
While their name implies they have two toes, they possess three toes on their hind limbs. Their limbs are adapted for hanging upside down, allowing them to move through the treetops effortlessly.
The Three-Toed Sloth, scientifically known as Bradypus, is the other captivating sloth species you may encounter during your Sloth Tour. Let’s dive into the distinct features and behaviors of the Three-Toed Sloth:
As the name suggests, Three-Toed Sloths have three toes on each of their limbs. As the name suggests, Three-Toed Sloths possess an extended middle digit on their front limbs, which helps them maintain their grip on tree branches.
These sloths are found in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, much like their two-toed relative. They have adapted to life in the canopies and rarely descend to the forest floor.
Three-Toed Sloths have a primarily herbivorous diet, feeding on leaves, buds, and tender shoots. They have a slow metabolism, and their digestion is facilitated by bacteria in their specialized stomach.
Three-Toed Sloths are known for their leisurely pace, moving only when necessary. They spend the majority of their time hanging upside down from branches, blending seamlessly with their surroundings.
Their shaggy fur is home to algae and other microorganisms, giving them a greenish tint that helps them to blend in their habitat.
Three-Toed Sloths have a low reproductive rate and give birth to a single offspring at a time. The mother carries her baby on her belly for several months before it becomes independent.
The 2 Types of Sloths You Can Spot on the Sloth Tour offer a captivating opportunity to witness the wonders of nature up close. Whether you encounter the Two-Toed Sloth with its distinctive claws or the Three-Toed Sloth with its leisurely lifestyle, each species brings its charm and uniqueness to the rainforest canopy. By participating in responsible eco-tourism and supporting conservation efforts, we can ensure the long-term survival of these incredible creatures.
So, gear up for a Sloth Tour adventure and embark on a journey to witness the enchanting world of sloth species. Explore the lush rainforests, spot these gentle creatures in their natural habitats, and gain a deeper appreciation for the delicate balance of our ecosystems.
Several popular destinations in Costa Rica offer Sloth Tours, such as La Fortuna, Monteverde, Bijagua, and Manuel Antonio. These tourism destinations are known for their rich biodiversity and sloth populations.
Sloths are most active during the early morning and late afternoon hours. Joining a tour during these times increases your chances of encountering these fascinating creatures.
Sloths are currently not classified as endangered. However, they face threats due to habitat loss, deforestation, and illegal wildlife trade. Responsible eco-tourism helps raise awareness and contribute to their conservation.
It is important to respect the wildlife and their natural habitats. In most cases, touching or holding sloths is prohibited to prevent stress and disturbance to the animals. Observing them from a safe distance is the best approach.
Sloths are known for their lengthy sleeping habits and can sleep up to 15 to 20 hours per day. Their slow metabolism allows them to conserve energy, leading to extended periods of rest.
Sloths are not strong swimmers and generally avoid bodies of water. Their long claws are not ideal for paddling, and swimming can be challenging for them. However, they are capable of swimming short distances if necessary.
